TELL ME A STORY AND I’LL SING YOU A SONG @ Charlie James Gallery
Apr 6 – May 4 all-day

Gallery Hours: Wed – Sun 12pm – 5pm
Artist Reception, APRIL 6, 2019, 6-9PM

Charlie James Gallery is pleased to present Tell Me a Story And I’ll Sing You a Song, a group exhibition curated by Bianca Moran, with works by Yasmine Diaz, Ramiro Gomez, David Huffman, Dulce Soledad Ibarra, Vincent Miranda, Star Montana, Chinwe Okona, noé olivas, Umar Rashid and Savannah Wood.

This exhibition showcases a group of artists whose practices are invested in the exploration of narrative and the ways in which the personal intersects and complicates the historical record. Through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and installation, these artists explore the nuance and tension that exists between personal histories and dominant historical narratives. There is in each piece the element of juxtaposition that puts forth a reconsideration of context and content, material and meaning. As such, each work is a gesture towards the formation of a visual language that can be read as annotations to the histories that have been built around and through but not from.

Erased from a True Story @ Eastern Projects Gallery
Jun 8 – Jul 13 all-day

Opening Reception: June 8th, 2019 6 pm -10 pm

Eastern Projects Gallery is pleased to present “Erased from a True Story”,  a solo exhibition by Chance Cooper.

“As moments turn into memories, we stash them in the closet of our mind. Some are draped over hangers, visible with every peek, waiting to be flicked through and tried on again. Others are neatly folded, layered inside a drawer, sharing a compartmentalized feeling. The rest are thrown on the floor and kicked to a corner, only to get lost and collect haze.

Even the clearest head doesn’t have enough room in their closet to go shopping for memories every new trend. Eventually our minds have to choose which ones to let go of. When it comes time to clean out the closet, there are some ‘good times’ even Goodwill won’t take. Unfortunately, those must be thrown away.

Until then, this body of work hangs the memories that will be erased from a true story.”
