Jason Pulgarin’s CLASS WARFARE @ Eastern Projects Gallery

Eastern Projects Gallery is pleased to announce Jason Pulgarin’s solo exhibition, “CLASS WARFARE”, running from Saturday January 12th to February 23rd. The opening reception will take place on January 12th from 6 – 10 pm, with a closing reception on February 23rd from 6 – 10 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

“CLASS WARFARE” – Noun; The struggle for the political and economic power carried on between capitalists and workers.

This collection is the exploration of the ongoing war between upper and lower class, told through famous renaissance paintings. History shows us that this struggle is nothing new, so historic masterworks have been deconstructed and broken down to their simplest form. With this Jason hopes to convey a series of emotions that tells a story of hope for the poor and the pursuit of power for the rich.

The separation of upper and lower class is a continuous battle in all human cultures across the globe. With today’s political climate in Los Angeles, it sets a well lit stage to show the disparity between corporate opulence and working class struggle.

L.A. Chinatown Firecracker 5/10K, Kiddie Run & Bike Ride @ Central Plaza

The L.A. Chinatown Firecracker 5/10K, Kiddie Run & Bike Ride is one of the largest and longest-running Lunar New Year charity run in the nation. 100% volunteer organized, 100% of net proceeds reinvested locally.

Since its inception, the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker Run Committee, Inc. (LACFRC) has contributed over $500,000 to local elementary schools and community non-profit organizations, providing service and programs to benefit the community.

Visit a temple, an herbal shop, art galleries, antique stores, and more! The 1 1/2 hour walking tour will take visitors to a number of off-the-beaten-track points of interest and will guide those interested in shopping to some of Chinatown’s best bargains and its trendiest shops. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to wind your way through a myriad of alleyways, plaza stalls, and classical courtyards to discover the charm of L.A’s Chinatown.

Eastern Projects Gallery is pleased to present the work of Scott Johnson, a mixed-media artist and well-known Los Angeles-based architect. The solo exhibition runs from Saturday, March 16 to Saturday, April 27, 2019. The opening reception takes place on Saturday March 16 from 6-10 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

The work includes large and small format paintings and works on paper which explore the dialectic between the architectural order which surrounds us and the chaos of streaming media we experience daily. Replete with painting, hand-drawing and imaging drawn from multiple sources, the works consist of the layering of various transparent materials which create depth and dimension and a sense of buried meanings.

PROGRAM:

A new work exploring pre-recorded data and time in semi-structured, interactive environments created in Max/MSP and Mira.

LIEW NIYOMKARN     Aquabeez   
A newest granular performance that conjures an image of greenery landscape, a dense swarm of insects. Liew reuses sound from field recording, feedback loop and traditional music that is stretched, mingled all together into a new form that leaves its original.

ERIC HEEP     Silo  
A new piece for bricks, piano wire, motors, rice, and automatic door locks.
