(Los Angeles) – Set in historic LA Chinatown, Springfest is an outdoor street festival that brings together all that is eclectic and unique about Los Angeles—from its authentic foodie culture, to its plethora of local music, artists, craft beers and much more. The first annual Springfest, scheduled for Sunday, April 15, 2012, is also one of the official stops on CicLAvia’s routes, an event scheduled for the same day.

Through collaborations between LA Chinatown merchants, Chinatown Business Improvement District and CicLAvia, the groups sought to launch a street festival that was accessible, fun and most of all community driven. The event benefits the LA Conservation Corps, CicLAvia and Chinatown Service Center Youth Center.

Caveman Vintage Music curates the lineup of local bands with scheduled performances by The Sloths, The Blessings, Stephen Sowan, The Finksville 5 and Whispertown.

Additionally there will be live art by local artists Megan Stevens, AHHD, Jamie Graden, Jesse Castillo and Victoria Ramirez.

Popular Chinatown restaurant Spring Street Smoke House has hand selected the breweries for the outdoor biergarten featuring favorites such as Karl Strauss, Bootlegger’s and Stone & Lagunitas. Spring Street Smoke House will also host one of its famous rib eating contests where amateur and expert rib eaters can pit their rib eating skills against others.

The event will be held Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. near the corner of North Spring St. and Cesar Chavez in LA Chinatown. To register for the rib-eating contest, please contact Spring Street Smokehouse directly at info@sssmokehouse.com. More info about Springfest can be found at its Facebook page at Facebook.com/LAChinatownSpringfest.
