ATTENTION METRO RAIL GOLD LINE CHINATOWN
STATION PATRONS


Metro’s Contractor will perform an upgrade of the escalators at Chinatown Station. First, the street level escalator at Chinatown will be removed from service for replacement. Approximately two weeks later, both of the platform level escalators will also be removed from service to be replaced. The Contractor will begin by installing barricades to isolate the work zone and will follow with demolition and replacement of the existing escalators.

WHAT: Barricade Installation and Escalator Replacement
WHEN: Starting Thursday, May 19, 2011 through approximately fall of 2011
WHERE: Metro Rail Gold Line Chinatown Station

WHAT TO EXPECT:
• Station elevators will not be affected due to this work and will remain in operation at all times.
• The new escalators will be heavy duty units designed for a transit environment.
• Signage directing patrons to the elevators and exits will be installed.
• The construction work will take place within a barricaded work zone.
• Access will be maintained for the Fire Department and emergency responders at all times.
